The textile industry is currently undergoing a substantial reorientation towards the technical textiles. Being different and apparently new, the technical textile industry is experiencing growth, twice as those of the clothing applications and accounts to more than half of the total textile output.

The processes used in the manufacturing of technical textiles require technologically advanced equipments and highly skilled workforce to operate the same. Technical Textiles comprise of filtration and absorption materials such as, bed sheets, healthcare upholstery, abrasive materials, thermal protection adhesive tapes, seat belts and many other specialized application and products.  The most widely used fiber in the technical textile industry is Polypropylene.

Ballistic Protection

We can offer specialty yarns which delivers superior toughness in a composite while at the same time reducing weight. The product can also be synergistically combined with carbon, glass, quartz, or aramid fiber in multiple applications. Hybrid blended aramid panels have proven to have the same ballistic performance as all-aramid panels at dramatically lower cost. We can offer yarns & fabrics for a total ballistic solution for hard as well as soft composites.

Fire Protection

The fabrics made by Didon ® fibre, 100 % or blended with other fibres, for official garments of protection for firemen, forest guards, workers of electrical companies, foundries, welders, racing drivers, mechanics, etc., pass all control tests required by the fulfilment of both European and American legislation as well as of other countries with norms regarding safety.

For example, with the protection garments for firemen, where a thermal and waterproof barrier made with Didon ® fibre is used, we have reached the level 2 of the norm EN 469:2006 in both radiant and convective heat tests as well as in the one relating to exposition to flame.

The use of the Didon ® fibre is recommended in knitted, woven and nonwoven fabrics and wadding or stuffed of protection.

Main normative in this sector
UNE-EN 531:1996                EN 366
UNE-EN 1149-3:94               EN 702
UNE-EN 469:2006                EN 368
UNE-EN 15614:2007            ENV 50354
EN 532-A+B                        EN 1149/1/2
EN 367

Filtration

The resistance to acids and bases of the Didon ® fibre, as well as its resistance also to electrolysis and ultraviolet rays, and its resistance to temperatures higher than 200ºC continuously, makes this fibre an essential material in the manufacture of filters.

Geotextiles

Geotextiles are flexible, textile-like fabrics of controlled permeability used to provide filtration, separation, reinforcement and drainage functions – except liquid barriers – in soil, rock and waste materials. The four most important functions performed by geotextiles in civil engineering applications are as:

  • Filtration
  • Separation
  • Reinforcement
  • Drainage

Geotextiles comprise of woven, nonwovens and knitted type of fabrics. Most Geotextile fabrics are made from PP/PP yarns.

Automotive

Automotive textiles are non apparel textiles widely used in vehicles such as cars, trains, buses, and modern vehicles. Most of the automotive textiles are used for interior trim like seat cover, carpets, roof, door liners, safety belts, air bags etc..

Asota fibers can be found in leading car brands as they can be adapted exactly to suit the stabilization modifications of technical delivery conditions. Encompassed with qualities such as extreme UV-stability, high hot light fastness and individual cut with focus on needle fiber qualities, it’s the most preferred choice for automotive filter applications. The Asota Polypropylene melt-spun fiber meets the maximum standards for ecological requirements. The Asota Series of 12, 13 and 16 are specifically designed for textile automotive coverings which are intended for high temperature and UV requirements.
